§ 1-17. Section histories; statutory references

  • (a) History notes. As histories for the Code sections, the specific number and passage date of the original ordinance, and the amending ordinances, if any, are listed following the text of the Code section. Example: (Ord. No. 10, 5-13-1960; Ord. No. 15, 1-1-1970; Ord. No. 20, 1-1-1980; Ord. No. 25, 1-1-1985)

    (b) Statutory citations. If a statutory cite is set forth as a " state law reference" following the text of the section, this indicates that the reader should refer to that statute for further information.

    Example:

    Sec. 2-384. Designation of records
               management officer.

    The city secretary, and the successive holders of said office, shall serve as records management officer for the city. As provided by state law, each successive holder of the office shall file his name with the director and librarian of the Texas state library within 30 days of the initial designation or of taking up the office, as applicable.
